
BISHOP J. O. FORD, SR.

Bishop John Oscar Ford, Sr., was born in 1947 to William & Evelyn Stamps-Ford in Omaha, Nebraska. He attended Sacred Heart Grade School and graduated from Central High School in 1965. He attended Omaha University for several years with a major in Journalism. He graduated from Charles Mason Bible School where he received a Master Teachings Certificate in 1971.
Bishop Ford surrendered his life to God in May 1967. He was called to the ministry in 1973. He received his Minister License in 1976 and was ordained as an Elder in the Church of God In Christ in 1979 by Bishop M. J. Bradford.
Bishop Ford has served the church in several positions over the years including, Assistant Pastor to the Late Pastor England Holcomb at Robinson Memorial Church of God in Christ. God called him to Pastor in 1978 and he founded his current church, Second Advent Christian Church of God in Christ.
Bishop Ford was appointed the First Administrative Assistant to the late Bishop B.T. McDaniel in 1984, serving until his death in 1990.
In 1991, he was reappointed the First Administrative Assistant by the late Bishop Vernon Richardson and served faithfully in this position until the Bishop’s death. In October 2000, Bishop Ford was Consecrated as the Nebraska Jurisdictional Prelate for the Church of God in Christ, Inc.
An eighteen year veteran of the Metro area transit Company and a successful businessman, Bishop Ford has emerges as both a spiritual and Community leader in Omaha, Nebraska.
Bishop Ford married Lizzie Lewis-Ford in 1967. The Fords are proud parents of three sons, one daughter and three wonderful grandchildren.
